Emerging Technologies

The Emerging Technologies Section at Hill AFB is immersed in technologies which are both coming to maturity and can be applied to immediate challenges as well as researching new areas related to cognitive processes, learning enhancements, reusability and sharability, expertise and tacit knowledge and informal learning.

Our staff includes instructional designers, media specialist and programmers who are immersed in the research coming from academia, government labs, private labs and corporations.  Additionally, we are undertaking research studies to look at new ways to apply emerging technologies.  Our team is conducting pure research to develop new ideas and new ways of integrating existing technologies.

Specific research areas include:

  • Ubiquitous learning
  • Micro-content metrics and reusability
  • Informal learning
  • Collaboration in Web 2.0/Web 3.0 arenas
  • Questioning models for expert knowledge capture
  • Tacit knowledge extraction
  • Effective mobile delivery approaches
