Intelligent Systems Department

The Intelligent Systems Department (ISD) in the Automation and Data Systems Division applies system design and software engineering skills to the specification, design, and development of integrated, interconnected "smart" transportation and information systems. ISD is comprised of a number of technologies including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. The ISD has experience in the four major subsystems identified in the national intelligent transportation systems architecture: traveler, centers, vehicles and roadside.
