SwRI: Wound Care and Orthopedic Technology Center, Biomedical Engineering

Understanding the importance of the prevention and treatment of wounds and tissue defects led Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) to create the Wound Care and Orthopedic Technology Center. Projects in the center seek engineering solutions to bone and soft tissue defects through R&D of innovative orthopedic implants, tissue engineering, wound healing therapies, and wound status monitoring. In addition, research is being conducted to predict and monitor the precursors to an open wound as an assessment of limb health, using a variety of imaging technologies.
